Why an investment in dental implants is an investment in your future
Dental implants restore so much more than just natural-looking teeth. At Sheen Dental in Richmond we will find the perfect implant solution to suit your individual needs, giving you back the full functionality of a healthy jaw of teeth and all the associated life benefits.
Whilst dental implants may initially seem more expensive than other tooth replacement options – traditional dentures or bridges – at our Richmond dental practice we prefer to see them as an investment in your future.
With traditional dentures, you will often have to return to your dentist on a semi-regular basis to have them adjusted as your jaw bone and/or gums recede. Unstable dentures bring with them a range of lifestyle restrictions, impacting on what you can eat, on the clarity of your speech and, if they have a tendency to fall out unexpectedly, on your self-confidence and social life.
Standard bridges need support from your surrounding teeth, which can involve the destruction of healthy tooth structure in order for crowns to be fitted. In addition, these teeth need to be strong and free from large fillings in the first place. Your bridge may also need to be replaced periodically.
Dental implants offer a more permanent solution. A bridge, denture, or crown attached to an implant requires no work on adjacent teeth, meaning that they remain healthy and strong. Because they are made from titanium and placed in direct contact with your jaw bone, dental implants help to prevent bone loss and gum recession, and hold your teeth securely in place at all times.
This means that you can eat a healthy diet including all your favourite treats, can speak clearly, and can get on with enjoying your life without many people even noticing you have false teeth, let alone any concern about them slipping.
Richmond dental implants
Implant placement is carried out under local anaesthetic or sedation at our Richmond dental practice by Dr Harmit Kalsi, an experienced implant dentist. Temporary teeth will be attached for the duration of healing (two-three months) after which your permanent new teeth are fitted – designed to last for many years.
